Hello I am back again!
Hello I am back to blogging! I was blogging about everything but stopped for a few years. I see my last post was in February of 2009! I could explain why I have been gone so long, and give all kinds of excuses. But it really is simple. Maybe I was taken away by Facebook like everyone else on this planet or maybe I needed the break so badly :P Well now I am back for another semester of blogging.
I hope to share some of my thoughts on internet and computers as usual, and of course some of the issues that concern me.
As usual please feel free to leave your feedback :)
Fun with Facebook with more goodies
Here are a few goodies for you to have fun while in Facebook. Please read carefully to to get the desired results. Feel free to leave a comment :P
1. Sign in with your username (unique URL). Instead of typing out your entire e-mail address each time you sign in, use your username (the one that leads people to your profile, like facebook.com/sharonvak) instead. Even if your info is auto-filled, this trick will save a hassle when you're prompted to sign in on your mobile device or public computers.
2. Hover over photo thumbnails to zoom. This feature isn't built in to Facebook, but after months of using it, it sure feels like it. Facebook Photo Zoom, a free browser extension, enlarges thumbnails and photos when you mouse over them. It's super useful when browsing through the News Feed and you want to see what a photo looks like without clicking the thumbnail and prompting a new page.
Here's the Chrome extension( https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/elioihkkcdgakfbahdoddophfngopipi ), and a similar one forFirefox( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/thumbnail-zoom/?src=search ).
3. Chrome Addon to spice up your chat: Pretty Facebook Chat .Prettify your Facebook chat. Bigger size, more animation, more... nice :-)
Prettify your Facebook chat. Bigger size, more animation, more... nice :-)
* WARNING: facebook has changed some things in chat engine, so some things in PFC are broken. Be patient please... Prettify your facebook chat with this extension: - Draggable - Bigger size - nice shadow - little animation - Emoticon window.

Security Updates for Internet Explorer (IE)
Internet is one of the most important tools in our day to day life. However, without proper knowledge and technical know how, we might get into trouble as well. Security analysts have recently alerted about the security vulnerabilities with Internet Explorer that allows hackers to gain access to your passwords, credit card information, etc.. Not long, Microsoft released updates for the same. This security update is rated Critical for Internet Explorer 5.01, Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1, and Internet Explorer 7 according to the sources. The patches are available in several different downloads depending on what version of IE you're using and what OS (operating system) you're running, and not all of the downloads are pointing to existing pages yet, but they should hopefully all be rolled out prolly in a day or two.
If you don't update your browser (internet explorer) I am afraid you are in deep trouble. So, if your computer is it up to date this is the time to run you Automatic Updates. But make sure your OS is genuine
otherwise... do the manual update by downloading the specific updates from the download page.
If you don't have admin access to your system, please contact the administrator and educate him/her about this important news. Its a must update and I am guaranteeing you won't regret!
Should you have any questions/doubts, please feel free to ask here.
Follow this link to download your copy: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms08-078.mspx
Note: Please make sure you choose the correct download file depending on your OS & version of Internet Explorer you have installed in your System.
Thanks for reading and good luck!

Thanks for visiting!
I would like to thank each and everyone of you for taking the time to visit my page. And thank you so much for signing my guestbook. Not everyone takes the time to do this. All your kind words mean a great deal to me and that's what keeps me making more pages for you to enjoy. It is very exciting to see who has been here and where you are from. I also love to visit the home pages of those who have been here. There are a lot of wonderful home pages you can find by viewing my guestbook. If you are coming from one of my websites I mentioned here. Then check out the rest of my home page for more sites and some beautiful music I have found for my pages. So have fun! And come back soon!

Create your own website
If you are looking into creating a website or re-creating your own website... heres a list of CMS ( Content Management System) choices I would like to share with you. Some are free, some are hosted, and some are industry specific. All of these platforms are quite different from one another, but all have some great attributes. Well, at least most of them. I have tried a dozen myself which might help you as well.
1. Joomla!: Believed to be the most powerful, diverse open source CMS in the world. Check it out. I have created a couple of sites using Joomla and its rocking
some sites are: Poumai.com, Trendyparlour.com, AoArogo.com.... and more to come. In fact I am planning to use Joomla for most of my clients websites from now. Well... Joomla is free... Get your copy at Joomla.org
2. Wordpress: Wordpress is one of the most popular CMS available, it is used primarily by bloggers but it can still be used as a general CMS - it is available for free from Wordpress.org . Wordpress is free!
3. Php-Nuke: This is the CMS we used for creating Nagalim.co.uk. Its one of the most popular CMSes in the open source world. It can be used for any type of websites you want to create. News, newsletter, magazines, Social networking, and almost everything. However you should be smart to choose which version of Nuke should be used for your site. The versions above 7.6 are not advisable because of some major security issues. Instead use RavenNuke CMS which is an advanced CMS modified from PHpnuke.
We (nagalim.co.uk) have upgraded our website from Phpnuke to RavenNuke and We are happy about it because of so many good reasons
RavenNuke is Free!
Thats all for now..

Ao Naga Tribe Website Launched
(Edit: This website doesn't function anymore.)
New Website Launched to Promote Ao Naga History, Culture, Language, Festivals and Events – all presented in a very user-friendly format.
The Ao Nagas now have a new website which will help in propagating the history, language, and culture of the Ao Naga people. The website provides both, a panoramic view and an in-depth look at anything and everything that make up the Ao culture. It encapsulates various features like, the Ao Temeja (exclusively in the Ao dialect), an Encyclopedia on Ao history, culture, land and people, an Ao Dictionary, News and Events, Media Gallery (Ao Naga Videos, Music, Games & Photo gallery), a Chat Room for chat lovers, just to name a few.
The webmaster uses RavenNuke CMS to enhance users' website browsing experience. This new feature allows us to expand and extend the functionality and content of the site in a more ordered way. If you would like to make any comments about the site, please do create a user account and leave us a note in the forums. We look forward to hearing from you.
Whether you are deciding on things to do on your next trip to the Ao inhabited areas in Nagaland, or simply looking up the dates for a particular event, you will find the Website's calendar based system irreplaceable.
"Helping our festivals thrive is important not only to attract visitors, but also to our residents and for the preservation of our culture and history," remarked the site owner, Toshi Asen. One of the site's key features is the ability for festivals to create their own individual Web presence. The Aonaga.com "Your Account" enables site members to log in, enter their own information and photos from their home or office, essentially enabling them to design their own mini Web profile.
